These recordings were a vehicle for the students to learn about remote recording, a technique that is used ever more increasingly in modern day music production. Each student was responsible for perfecting their part and recording it so that those parts could be compiled into the performances you hear.

We also took the opportunity to feature some of our jazz faculty along side the students.

It was a pretty ambitious undertaking considering that none of these students had ever done anything like this before. That being said, I think the result is quite impressive. - John Zappa
